The Whos and Whats and What About You’s of it All

Writing did and does terrify me. Please know, I tried my damndest not to do it. For a LONG time. I read a lot of books on it. I took a lot of classes on it. I wrote a lot of notes about the things I *would* *could* or *should* write.  I also created decently stellar pieces – in my head – all the while avoiding keyboards or the paper and pen combo as much as possible. However, every once in awhile what went through my head actually ended up in a format other than neurological and I had to put it somewhere and well, voila – The Delicious Day.

One of the very first things that went from head to written format was regarding my experiences hiring a hooker.

It is harder to hire a hooker and convince her you just want to “talk” than you may think. See, I lived in Amsterdam for six months and just became a bit, I don’t know, intrigued by the whole thing Red Light District thing. How did it work? How did they feel? What did they think? So I hired a hooker to learn and then posted it on The Delicious Day. Alas my first post accompanied by a lot of nervous laughter and questions about the stability of my finances from my parents.

Nowadays, I spend a large part of my days writing about people who despite the inevitable fear and the worries of doing so found the cajones to work, live and heal unconventionally. I do this to show others, myself included, that there is very much a life outside of traditional approaches, our ingrained (and completely absurd) societal norms and our f’d up healthcare system, especially our healthcare system as it relates to curing asthma. (Yes there is a cure.)

I also from time to time, and it will be more frequent going forward, write about my own perspectives, life and general jackassery. As it was suggested by well – everyone – that I love to write about other people because it gives me an outlet to do what I love i.e. write and talk to amazing people, but at the same time allows me the ability to safely hide behind others and their stories.

And well, I will admit that ‘they’ – you know those people that claim they know me — like my husband, lifelong childhood friends, my very best friends, my sisters and other subject matter experts – might have a point. So I write about myself, as well. <Insert high to medium level of terror here.>

$$$$?

I graduated (and almost barely thanks to  #%*&!!! calculus) with a degree in Biology; which is the reason I have spent almost every day since in digital marketing. If you want the nitty gritty of all I have and continue to do, feel free to check out my LinkedIn profile.

If you are not feeling LinkedIn-y, in short I help (and have done so for 15+ years now) people and companies (tiny and ginormous) get more traffic and revenue from search engines and/or when they don’t have the time to write the blog posts or other materials their company or organization desperately needs to properly connect with existing and new customers – I spend some time I seriously love writing for them as well. My rates are reasonable and the results, if I don’t mind saying so myself, are quite impressive. I especially love small businesses. Want to chat? I can be reached at linda@thedeliciousday.com.
